VAFO Group, one of Europe’s leading pet food companies, has made a strategic investment in PEZZ life, an Austrian pet health diagnostics company, marking a further step in VAFO’s strategy to build a leading, science-backed platform across pet nutrition, prevention and diagnostics.
The investment forms the basis of a scientific and commercial cooperation between PEZZ life and Biome9, the gut health testing company VAFO Group acquired last year through Pooch & Mutt. Together, the two companies will develop a joint roadmap to explore commercial, scientific and operational synergies across their diagnostic and testing portfolios, while continuing to operate independently.
“We are very excited to have VAFO Group as a strong strategic partner for the next stage of PEZZ. We see significant potential to combine our expertise and build meaningful synergies between nutrition, prevention and diagnostics,” said Markus Zengerer, Founder & CEO of PEZZ life.
“PEZZ life’s diagnostic capabilities are a strong complement to the work we’re doing at Biome9. There’s real potential to advance preventive pet healthcare together, combining our science and data with PEZZ’s testing platform to give pet parents and vets clearer, earlier insight into their pets’ health,” said Bushra Abu-Helil, Head of Science and Research, Biome9.
“Our ambition is to move beyond nutrition and play a broader role in pet wellbeing. By bringing strong diagnostic expertise into the VAFO ecosystem, this investment opens up exciting opportunities to connect nutrition, prevention and health insights,” said Timo Pärssinen, Board Member and Head of Commercial at VAFO Group.
