Prima Pet, part of VAFO Group, continues to reduce the environmental impact of its operations in Finland. Through its long-term cooperation with logistics partner Kaukokiito and the use of renewable diesel, the company achieved an 88.4% reduction in emissions from domestic transportation between January and July 2026 compared to transport using fossil fuels.

Kaukokiito transports Prima Pet’s well-known Hau-Hau, PrimaCat, PrimaDog and Dagsmark pet food brands to retailers across Finland. As part of their cooperation, the two companies regularly review logistics performance and monitor the emissions generated by transportation.

Prima Pet was among the first companies to adopt Kaukokiito BIO when the service was launched in 2023. The transport solution replaces fossil diesel with renewable diesel, providing a practical way to significantly reduce emissions from road transportation.

An important part of the cooperation is also the ability to measure the results. Kaukokiito provides detailed emissions reporting based on the requirements of the ISO 16258 standard, enabling Prima Pet to monitor its environmental performance and use reliable data in its sustainability reporting.

“Kaukokiito is an important partner for us, and our cooperation also supports our sustainability goals. It is really important that emission reductions can be measured. The data we receive shows the concrete impact of our choices,” says Tiina Wemberg, Sustainability Specialist at Prima Pet.

The initiative is part of Prima Pet’s broader efforts to continuously improve the sustainability of its operations and reduce emissions across its value chain. By combining lower-emission transportation with transparent and measurable data, the company can turn sustainability commitments into concrete results.

For VAFO Group, cooperation such as this demonstrates how sustainability improvements can be integrated into everyday operations across the Group – from production and products to logistics and distribution.
