PrimaDog, the esteemed Nordic-inspired dog food brand renowned for its commitment to quality and the well-being of our four-legged companions, proudly announces a significant milestone in its journey. Through meticulous design and unwavering dedication, PrimaDog has embarked on a packaging renewal initiative that not only elevates its visual identity but also champions sustainability in the pet food industry.

Since its foundation in 2016, PrimaDog has been a beacon of excellence, providing carefully designed, quality nutrition for dogs of all breeds and sizes. Driven by a desire to align more closely with its core values and better serve its customers, the brand recognized the need for a strategic overhaul in its packaging communication.

“We’ve always believed that dogs deserve the best, and their owners too, through a worry-free option of selecting quality food, and that includes every aspect of the food, right down to the packaging,” says Katri Kurki, PrimaDog Brand Manager. “Our packaging renewal isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s proof that through creative design and smart choices, it is possible to improve sustainability, achieve cost savings, and deliver an unparalleled experience to our customers.”

Revitalized Packaging Achieves Significant Cost Savings and Reflects Vafo Group’s Environmental Commitment

PrimaDog’s packaging renewal team worked with several alternative visual directions, carefully considering recognizability, brand attributes, industry-specific guidelines, consumer needs, and Vafo Group’s sustainability goals. Once the optimal visual direction was determined, technical print specifications were meticulously integrated into the design process.

By transitioning to more easily recyclable monomaterial plastic and consolidating printing plates within packaging of equal size, PrimaDog has implemented significant eco-friendly measures, reducing its environmental footprint while also improving operational efficiency. The adoption of shared printing plates has resulted in a remarkable reduction of over 50% in both the quantity and cost of plates used for 79 SKUs, equivalent to the size of two soccer fields. These cost savings will continue to multiply in the future when updating existing products or introducing new ones to the category. The reduction of printing plates not only minimizes waste and production but also decreases working hours in the print house, as fewer plates need to be changed during the printing process for the product group. This results in fewer cleaning and storage requirements as well. This strategic move aligns seamlessly with Vafo Group’s sustainability goals and reflects PrimaDog’s steadfast dedication to responsible business practices.

Furthermore, the packaging renewal reinforces PrimaDog’s distinctive Nordic heritage and unwavering commitment to quality. The incorporation of continuous landscape illustrations creates a visually striking appearance, ensuring PrimaDog products stand out on the shelves while embodying the brand’s unique identity.

“We’re incredibly proud of this milestone achievement,” says Katri Kurki. “Not only have we enhanced the visual appeal of our products, but we’ve also taken a step towards a more sustainable future by making smarter choices. This is just the beginning of our journey, and we’re excited to continue pushing boundaries and setting new standards for our work.”

PrimaDog’s packaging renewal represents a stride towards a greener, more vibrant future. As the brand continues to evolve, its unwavering commitment to quality, sustainability, and the well-being of our furry friends remains at the forefront of everything it does.
